Switzerland to Host First-Ever European Rapid Surfing Championships in 2026

Held at OANA near Lucerne, the event will transform the venue into the centre of European Rapid Surfing. Organised by Swiss Surfing on behalf of the European Surfing Federation, the championships combine elite competition with lifestyle and community in an innovative format on an artificial standing wave.

This championship represents the first time a major international rapid surfing event will take place in Switzerland. Hosted at the Oana Ebikon indoor surfing facility in the Mall of Switzerland, the venue offers optimal infrastructure, a central location and a unique overall experience for athletes and spectators alike.

The official event app provides all relevant information while also managing participation processes, livestream and competition structures. Beyond the competition itself, the initiative aims to raise awareness of rapid surfing and position it as a professional, internationally recognised discipline.

Rapid Surfing holds significant potential - particularly in urban environments - appealing to both younger and older, sports-oriented audiences and aligning strongly with the growing trend sports movement.

If you do not want to miss out on anything, follow the event on instagram for regular updates and check out the application!

Aloha from the Alps,

Swiss Surfing
